Up North Outdoor Fitness Classes to Motivate Even the Most Reluctant Exerciser
Different people are motivated to exercise by different things. While some people are enticed by the peace of a solo run or bike ride on the trails, other people prefer the social component, the structure, and the opportunity to learn promised in group fitness classes. However, when it’s so nice outside in northern Wisconsin, it’s difficult for even the most dedicated fitness buff to be motivated to step away from the lake or the woods and into a studio in order to work out. Luckily, there are several Up North organizations that offer fitness classes outside. These yoga, mountain biking, general fitness, and paddleboarding classes offered in spectacular settings are sure to inspire even the most reluctant exerciser.
On-Land Classes
Yoga
Namaste & Rosé: Instructors Jill and Janele will lead yoga on the lawn at Pike’s Pine Isle in Three Lakes. Classes are the following Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.: July 20, July 27, August 10, and August 17. Continue your weekend relaxation with a glass of rosé aftward.
Yoga on the Beach: This one-hour class is brought to you by Yoga Paddler at Cedaroma Lodge in St Germain. Classes are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m.
Yoga on the Deck: A yoga class led by instructor Tara Nolan takes place three days a week at Rest Lake Park in Manitowish Waters: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m., and Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Mountain Biking
WinMan Trails is offering two clinics on Saturday, July 27, on their trails in Winchester. A co-ed beginner mountain biking clinic will be held at 10 a.m., and a women’s mountain biking clinic will be held at noon.
On-Water Classes
Yoga Paddler has two on-water options at Cedaroma Lodge:
- SUP Yoga: Classes place on Thursdays from 5:15 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 11:45 a.m.
- Core on the Board: Classes are held on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:45 p.m.
Wildwood Outdoor Adventures in Eagle River also offers two on-water options:
- SUP Yoga: Classes are held every Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
- Morning fitness paddle: Classes are held at 9:30 a.m. on summer Tuesdays and Thursdays.
