If you are looking for winter fun in the Antigo area, travel about 17 miles northeast to Kettlebowl Ski Area. Kettlebowl Ski Hill is one of Langlade County’s inexpensive winter gems, offering downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

It’s an excellent place to learn how to ski, especially for families with children. The non-profit facility is run by volunteers of the Langlade County Ski Club and by other volunteers.
The ski hill has a vertical drop of 325 feet. It features five rope tows and seven ski runs, including a “baby” hill. The XC trail is 2.7 miles in length, with one loop along the Ice Age Trail.

Kettlebowl Ski Hill is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. when there is enough naturally made snow. Lift tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for high school students, $2 for kids 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. Antigo Ski rents skis/boots/snowboards when the hill is open: $20 for those 6 years old to adult and $15 for those 5 and under years of age.

After an afternoon of skiing or snowboarding, step inside the cozy chalet for coffee, cocoa, soup, hot dogs and other goodies. The chalet built in 2005 has indoor restrooms. There is also a snowmobile trail for riders to access the chalet.

The facility is located at N6875 State Highway 52, Bryant. For more information, go to langladecounty.org/play/?category19=Skiing or go to the volunteers Facebook page: facebook.com/Kettlebowl-Ski-Hill-Cross-country-Trails-1377892649145409.
