Winter Wellness Up North

Up North, November is a time of transition. We have received our first few inches of snow, but it’s not quite time for snowmobiling, fat-tire biking, or skiing just yet. Our thousands of lakes are beginning to freeze over, but the ice layer is not yet ready to handle our trucks and ice fishing shanties.

We reminisce about summer’s escapades—rumbling through town on the motorcycle, sitting in our boat on quiet mornings, waiting for that first pull on our line, and laughing at the comedic antics of waterskiers and lumberjacks at summer’s shows.

We anticipate the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays. We eagerly await long days spent covering many miles with our buddies on the Northwoods’ snowmobile trails.

While it’s easy to be stuck between looking backward and looking forward, November is also the perfect opportunity to focus within ourselves. The air is growing colder and bringing on new aches and pains. The impending cold and flu season waves a red flag warning us it’s time to tend to our health. Let’s use this brief moment of stillness that November offers us before the buzz of the holidays, winter travels, and snow sports awakens us again.

The natural serenity Up North lends itself perfectly to a wellness retreat this season. Walk along your favorite trail for the last time until spring’s thaw; breathe in the clean, pine-scented air as your heels crunch on the thin layer of freshly fallen snow. Stay at one of our innumerable rustic luxury resorts, cabins, lodges, condos, or hotels. And to make your early winter getaway complete, visit one of the quality spas and holistic wellness providers and retailers in the region.
