The endless adventures to be had in northern Wisconsin definitely include culinary adventures! Over the next few months, several Up North communities will be celebrating their delicious food and beverage establishments with special food-, beer-, and wine-tasting events. Here is just a sampling of what you’ll find.

Northwoods Region

Get a Taste of Tomahawk

Get your tickets now for Tomahawk’s premier microbrew, wine, and food tasting event—Taste of Tomahawk—to be held on Saturday, March 21, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., at the Inshalla Country Club in Tomahawk.

Sponsored by the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce, Taste of Tomahawk is your opportunity to visit with local restaurants as well as regional and statewide breweries and winemakers. This year’s theme is “black and white,” so come dressed in your best black and white outfit for the chance to win Chamber Bucks.

Food offerings will include tastings from these great establishments:

  • Great Lakes Food
  • The Cheese Shoppe
  • Cherie’s Sweet Sensations
  • Fun Factory Gelato
  • Silver Birch Supper Club
  • Ed and Sharon’s Catering
  • Kwik Trip

There will also be more than a dozen beer and wine tasting options (to be announced).

You must be 21 years or older to attend this event. Purchase your tickets ($35 each) in advance at the Tomahawk Chamber office, or purchase them at the door on the day of the event. Stay up to date with all the details here.

Doing Good Tastes Good

Come to Mercer’s 7th Annual Taste of the Northwoods at the Mercer Community Center to both eat good food and raise money for the Mercer Education Foundation. There will be delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts prepared by the Mercer area’s great dining establishments and other businesses. You’ll have a chance to sample the dishes, meet the chefs, and learn about their valued businesses. The event will take place on Sunday, May 17, from noon to 3 p.m. For more information, call (715) 476-2933.

 

Northwest Region

Chocolate Deserves Its Own Food Group

At the Cocoa Crawl, coming to Osceola on Saturday, February 29, from 1 to 5 p.m., the town will be celebrating all things cocoa. Participating businesses will provide chocoholics with beverages and treats, and they will also tempt you with specials and drawings. Participating businesses will include:

  • Chateau St. Croix Winery
  • The Chocolate Gnome, Oak & Ivory
  • Style Escape, LLC, Karita’s
  • Coming Home
  • Cascade Nutrition
  • Adoray’s Treasures from the Heart
  • The Looking Glass

  • Uptown
  • The Watershed Cafe
  • Wildwood Flowers
  • Bill’s Ace Hardware

There also will be a family-friendly winter obstacle course at Mill Pond Park from 2 to 3 p.m. that day. Check here for more details.

Taste the Best and Try Your Luck

The Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the Jacks Are Wild Annual Food & Wine Tasting on Thursday, April 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Spooner Civic Center. For $25, you will enjoy food from local restaurants and sample tastings of wine and beer. Also, amuse yourself with games, raffles, and auctions during this evening of fun out on the town. The proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizations in the Spooner area. For more information, call 715-635-2168.

 

Northeast Region

Taste of Shawano

Join Junior Achievement for the 13th Annual Taste of Shawano, a family-friendly event featuring more than 20 local restaurants. While you delight your taste buds, enjoy the music and entertainment provided by local youth, and try your luck at raffle prizes! Best of all, 100 percent of proceeds will benefit youth in the area. Come to this delicious event at Shawano Community High School on Monday, March 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Purchase pre-sale tickets ($15 for adults) at both CoVantage Credit Union locations in Shawano, as well as at Premier Bank, until noon on Saturday, March 28.  Or purchase tickets at the door—$20 for adults and $10 for students (ages 5 to 18). Kids under 5 can come for free.
