Spend a Day at the Beach in Tomahawk
Sunshine. Fresh air. Open spaces. Sand between our toes. A refreshing swim in a lake of the Northwoods. We all need these things now, more than ever before.
If you are visiting the Tomahawk area, you know these things surround you in abundance. However, the sheer number of lakes can be bewildering! Where do you go for a day at the beach without accidentally setting foot on private property? Here are some of the lovely public beaches in the Tomahawk area where you can plan a fun day this summer.
Crystal Beach
Crystal Beach has changing rooms, restrooms, and a picnic area available. To get there, take Highway L (Business 51) north to Highway N. Turn right on Highway N, and then turn left on Beach Road.
Frenchtown Beach
In addition to the swimming beach area, Frenchtown Park also offers a picnic area, playground, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, and a baseball field. From Highway 86 West, turn right on Mary Street. Frenchtown Beach is at the end of the street.
SARA Park Beach
At SARA Park Beach, you’ll find changing rooms, showers, restrooms, a public boat landing, and a picnic area, as well as a volleyball court, a playground, and hiking trails. There’s a lifeguard on duty. SARA Park Beach is located on West Somo Avenue.
Spirit Flowage Beach
At Spirit Flowage Beach, you’ll find a picnic area and a public boat landing. To get there, take, Highway 86 west to Highway E. Turn left on E and continue for about one mile. Spirit Flowage Beach is across from Packaging Corporation of America.
