Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy! Here’s the Line on Tournaments…

Northern Wisconsin becomes an ice angler’s dream destination once the lakes develop a solid layer of ice, with endless opportunities to bring home a bag limit of northern pike, walleye, and panfish.

CHIPPEWA FLOWAGE — The 10th annual Tipper Tourney on the Chippewa Flowage, will be this Saturday, Jan 8. Headquarters is at 7476 Pat’s Landing Rd. in Hayward. This northern and largemouth bass “fun” tournament is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration fee is $15 per entrant. For more information call 715-945-2511.

NELSON LAKE — Celebrate Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend and come join the fun at the Northland Area Builders Association’s annual Ice Fishing Event on Nelson Lake next Saturday, Jan. 15. Eligible species are walleyes, bluegill, crappie and perch. The first 40 kids will receive a tip-up courtesy of S.C.O.P.E. and one lucky kid will receive a fish finder! There will be cash and raffle prizes, including a chance to win an ice fishing package.

BALSAM LAKE, COON LAKE & NORTH TWIN LAKE – Scope out the lakes in Polk County with a trip to Balsam, Coon and North Twin lakes, where ice fishing tournament are held each January. The Polk County Information Center has all the information you need for these contests and more this winter.
